The Business Grant Application Checklist Most Founders Skip

Most rejected grant applications aren't rejected because the business idea is weak — they're rejected because the application itself is incomplete or unclear.
1. Business registration documents
Have your CAC certificate ready and current before you start applying — missing registration disqualifies many applicants outright.
2. A clear, specific use-of-funds breakdown
"General business growth" is too vague. Reviewers want to see exactly what the money will be spent on and why.
3. Evidence of traction
Bank statements, sales records, or customer testimonials make your application far more credible than projections alone.
4. A realistic, not inflated, growth plan
Overly ambitious projections without a clear path can hurt credibility more than modest, well-supported ones.
5. A concise, well-written pitch
Reviewers read dozens of applications — clarity and brevity consistently outperform length.
